Watch the Process - Stitched Collage

I’ve always been fascinated by collage.

There is something very satisfying when you bring seemingly unrelated items together; those bits of paper and fabric, watercolor and acrylic, stitches and crayons.

It’s like they say, “Hello! I think we are perfect for each other, mind if I sit next to you?”

I’ve been making painted and stitched strips as part of The 100 Day Project and my latest workshop, Booklet Bundles of Joy and with so many papers and bits, I decided to try a simple exercise in collage making.

Simple Collage Process

Step One: Add watercolor to an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of watercolor paper
Step Two: Scribble with a pencil, NuPastels and crayons
Step Three: Add more watercolor
Step Four: Adhere assorted paper bits and pieces with glue stick
Step Five: Add more watercolor and scribbles
Step Six: Stitch over the top in random spots (my sewing machine)
