It seems each time I want to have some creative time in my art journal, I reach for my junk journal. I love the versatility of junk journals. and they can be created in so many different ways. I like mine to be filled with a variety of papers with a slightly thicker cover so the whole thing is created with paper. It all depends on my mood but this design is super easy to make and I just love how satisfying they feel when I hold them. ๐Ÿ’•

Have you jumped into the world of junk journaling yet?

In my latest video, Iโ€™ll share my process for creating in my junk journal with you. I bring together paper collage, paint, pencils, oil pastels, and even masking tape. ๐ŸŽจ Easy peasy!

But first, in case youโ€™re new to junk journals, hereโ€™s a little info about them:

Why Junk Journals Are Awesome

Junk journals are already bursting with color, patterns, and text. This means you spend less time staring at a blank page and more time creating! For me, itโ€™s a quick way to jump into the creative flow. The pages are a jump start on creativity.

Whatโ€™s a Junk Journal?

A junk journal is a book made from found and recycled materials. Think old books, magazine clippings, postcards, ticket stubsโ€”basically, anything youโ€™d usually toss out. The magic? You transform these items into something uniquely beautiful and expressive.

I mostly create mine with assorted painted papers, envelopes, book pages, etc. and less of the junk mail type book. Curious?
